April 30, 2008 (Sawf News) - The first look of Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein was unveiled at Vie Lounge, Juhu, Mumbai on Tuesday evening, April 29. Besides Nagesh, those present included Sonal Sehgal, the leading lady of the film, and Chak De girl Anaitha Nair.

Lead star John Abraham was absent, as he is on location in Miami for Dostana.

Sonal Sehgal made her debut in Bollywood with the low budget urban comedy - U, Me and Bomsi, that turned out to be even a greater dud than its name suggested. She has since done some music videos and serials.

Aashayein was shot on locations in Pondicherry and Hyderabad. The plot goes like this…

Rahul Singh (John Abraham), a compulsive gambler, wins a large sum of money and at the same time finds out that he has 90 days to live. Wanting to spend his last days in happiness he leaves everything behind and moves into a beautiful hospice.

The inmates that he meets there change his perception of life.

Rahul tries to rise above his own selfishness and live life to the fullest learning from the courage of the people around him.

Anaitha plays a cancer patient and sports a bald look in the film.

In the absence of John Abraham, it was a gal who stole the limelight at the event, but not Sonal, as you might think. All the eyes seemed to rest on Divya Kumar, wife of T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar. Divya, a former actress, had come to the event with Bhushan's sister, Tulsi Kumar, a singer.

Though the film's promo looked good, the event was otherwise lackluster.

Kukunoor, who has given us some delectable cinema in the form of Dor (2006) and Iqbal (2008), delivered a dud in Bombay To Bangkok earlier this year.
