Amrita Rao: Single but not ready to mingle

Amrita Rao says she doesn't have a boyfriend, and when she does he will be the one she will marry. Besides, finding a boyfriend is not a priority with her, making it to the top in Bollywood is.

Amrita, has been romantically linked to Shahid Kapoor in the past. More recently she was linked to Goher Mumtaz, a musician with the Pakistani band Jal, after they filmed a video together.

Amrita says, "Goher has played my love interest in this video but love hasn't sparked between the two of us in real life. If I really fall in love, it'll be very difficult to hide it."

"I don't want a relationship just for the heck of it. I'm the kind of girl who would get married to her first boyfriend. I believe that is the luckiest," she told TNN.

The 26-year-old isn't worried that she is still not in a relationship. She says a lot of her friends living abroad, who are young and attractive, don't have boyfriends. We are inclined to think those friends are not as beautiful as her, but then, we are unabashed biased.

Amrita started her career as a model with a campaign for Fairever Face Cream, while she was in college, and went on to become one of the most sought after models in India within a year.

She made her debut in Bollywood with Ab Ke Baras in 2002, and went on to firmly establish herself with films like The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Ishq Vishk (2003), Main Hoon Na (2004) and Vivah (2006). She is proud that she was able to gain a firm foothold in the very competitive industry without a god father or superstar boyfriend, and is gung ho about her future.

"Slowly and steadily, I'll make my way to being the number one heroine," she says.

Amrita's forthcoming films include

Victory directed by Ajit Pal with co-stars Harman Baweja and Anupam Kher.

Mahadev Ka Sujjanpur directed by Shyam Benegal with co-stars Shreyas Talpade and Ravi Kishen.

Shortcut directed by Neeraj Vora with co-stars Simi Grewal, Arshad Warsi and Akshaye Khanna.

She says the Benegal film has "added to my CV as an actor. Just working with him makes me feel a part of the group that comprised Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Rekha."
