May 6, 2008 (Sawf News) - Amrita Rao doesn't just want to be Bollywood's top actress, she has ambitions set on Hollywood. Maybe she needs a reality check?
Late last month the 27-year-old, who won the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award in 2007 for her role in the film Vivah, told the press, "Slowly and steadily, I'll make my way to being the number one heroine."
We liked her confidence, even though we didn't share her optimism.
More recently, when asked by TOI if Hollywood figured in her scheme of things she responded, "Yes, definitely. Aishwarya has set a trend and many Indian actresses want to head that way. The day isn't far when many of us will make it big there."
When prodded to be a little more specific she said, "Hollywood certainly features in my scheme of things. I'd love to do a good film there."
"The only difficult part is that we still need to be discovered," she added.
Ironically, Amrita has no Hollywood agent, possibly because she cannot afford one. The truth is acting in Sooraj Bharjatya films doesn't earn you enough to engage a good Hollywood agent. Not even a Simone (Aishwarya, Bipasha) or Asal (Hrithik).
