There is no denying the fact that forever young Dev Anand has an eye for digging the best beauties in the tinsel town. This time the lucky one is Bong beauty Riya Sen who will be playing the leading role in Dev Saab’s next directorial venture.

The film based on a socio-political theme has been titled ‘Charge Sheet’. Riya and Jackie Shroff have been finalized and the search is still on for the rest of the casting. To be mentioned here that this veteran star has already worked with two generations of the Sen family- Suchitra Sen and Moon Moon Sen.

Speaking to a Mumbai tabloid, Dev Anand told that his film requires a glamorous, good-looking female and Riya suits the role. Dev Anand will be flying to Cannes shortly where his evergreen film ‘Guide’ has been chosen for screening in the Classics section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Akshay Kumar not ready to be waxed as yet

May 7, 2008 () - Akshay Kumar turned down an offer by Madame Tussauds in London to install his wax replica in the Bollywood section museum alongside those of Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

"I'm not yet good enough for that. I've to achieve a lot more in life," Akshay modestly told DNA.

However, he took his modesty a little too far, making it sound facetious, when he put the blame for the failure of his recent film Tashan on himself!

"I need to put in more efforts and perform better perhaps," he said.

Akshay, who has carefully cultivated an action hero image, is upbeat about hosting the recently announced adventure based TV reality show, Khatron Ka Khiladi. The Fear Factor inspired show will be shot in South Africa, and will air on Viacom 18's new general entertainment Hindi channel - Colors.

While he loves doing action sequences on camera his family is less enthusiastic.

"My family has got used to it. They have given up on me now," he says.

Akshay admits to having his own fears.

"I fear investing money. I also fear animals. But I like to deal with this," he says.

Amrita Rao: Getting way ahead of herself!

May 6, 2008 (Sawf News) - Amrita Rao doesn't just want to be Bollywood's top actress, she has ambitions set on Hollywood. Maybe she needs a reality check?

Late last month the 27-year-old, who won the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award in 2007 for her role in the film Vivah, told the press, "Slowly and steadily, I'll make my way to being the number one heroine."

We liked her confidence, even though we didn't share her optimism.

More recently, when asked by TOI if Hollywood figured in her scheme of things she responded, "Yes, definitely. Aishwarya has set a trend and many Indian actresses want to head that way. The day isn't far when many of us will make it big there."

When prodded to be a little more specific she said, "Hollywood certainly features in my scheme of things. I'd love to do a good film there."

"The only difficult part is that we still need to be discovered," she added.

Ironically, Amrita has no Hollywood agent, possibly because she cannot afford one. The truth is acting in Sooraj Bharjatya films doesn't earn you enough to engage a good Hollywood agent. Not even a Simone (Aishwarya, Bipasha) or Asal (Hrithik).

Sonal wore a blue skinny jeans with a shabbily tucked in full sleeve white collar shirt under a halter neck half jacket which she probably thought was very stylish but to us it appeared ridiculous.

Mahesh Bhatt's Jannat, a love-story, directed by Kunal Deshmukh stars Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan in lead roles.

Talking about his debutant co-star, Emraan had said, 'She's totally new. She is the 14th girl to be launched with me. I don't know how many women Rishi Kapoor launched in his heydays, but I'm getting there.'

Sonal, who has signed a three film deal with the Bhatt camp, talked about the kissing scene in Jannat. She said, "He (Emraan) was not forced to kiss me. The scene required it. It was not hot and steamy. I was not comfortable kissing, neither was Emraan. But the Scene demanded it."

The story of Jannat, which literally means Paradise or Swarg, revolves around a man who is caught in a quagmire of crime and consumerism as he struggles to find heaven on earth. The film will release in theaters on May 16.

The Draupadi dilemma

Balaji is apparently deciding between their favourite actresses Anita Hassanandani and Gauri Pradhan to play the epic character

It’s a battle between Anita Hassanandani and Gauri Pradhan. No, this is no catfight. Rather, both the actors are apparently strong contenders for the role of Draupadi in Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharata.

When it comes to Draupadi, Balaji Telefilms first thought of Gauri Pradhan. Reason? Apart from her acting skills, Gauri has been associated with Balaji for a long time and has been faithful to the production house. “She has been approached, and she is considering the role. Though, she hasn’t said yes she is keen to play the role of Paanchali (another name for Draupadi, which means the wife of five husbands),” says a source.

The creative team is also considering another actress for the role—Anita Hassanandani. “She has been one of Ekta Kapoor’s blue-eyed girls and is a good actress. Though they are considering her, she has not been approached yet,” adds another source.

Needless to say, Anita is quite clueless about the entire development. “No, I have not been approached. So, obviously I am not doing Mahabharata for the moment,” Anita says.

“Draupadi is a strong character, as she holds her own in front of the Kauravas. So, we want a good actress, and both are good options. We also want to play it safe, so that we have an alternative if one backs out at the last moment. If both of them agree to do the role, Ekta will take the final decision,” says the source.
Gauri, despite repeated attempts was not available for comment.

Incidentally, Rupa Ganguly played Draupadi in Ravi Chopra’s Mahabharata.
