May 3, 2008 (Sawf News) - The latest and loud buzz in the tabloid world is that Katrina Kaif is No1 in popularity, ahead of Aishwarya Rai. The fine print says popularity measured by the interest in her pictures over the net. We don't think so!
The claim, vaguely attributed to a 'global provider of mobile content,' by one Delhi based tabloid, appears dubious to us.
We love Katrina, for her endearing screen presence, more so than we do Aishwarya, who is far more beautiful but rarely comes through as herself. However, we have no doubts which of the two is more popular - Aishwarya Rai and by a wide margin.
We gauge popularity by measuring the interest shown by our readers, both, in star photos as well as their news stories.
We will admit that our readers view Katrina's slide show more than Aishwarya's, but that is only part of the picture, because they view Kareena Kapoor's slide show even more!
Immediately trailing Kareena in popularity is not Deepika but Bollywood hunks Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan.

We were not amused by the way tabloids completely ignore the interests of us girls. Going by the list, the girls love the Khans and Hrithik, more than the boys love Deepika, Katrina and Aishwarya!
If we compare the popularity of Katrina with Aishwarya, in terms of page views of their news stories, Aishwarya is way ahead.
We have, however, seen a waning of interest in Aishwarya almost a year after her marriage to Abhishek, and a perking up of interest in Kareena and Katrina.
While we are convinced that the 'Katrina is No 1' buzz is a phony media concoction, possibly motivated, we are ready to administer ourselves a reality check.
