Ramu was taking no chances this time. He was very disappointed that two out of the three main characters of his Bachchan film were absent on his D -day. He had expected them all to be there as this was the first film starring the three mighty Bachchans together. After he came to terms with the fact that only Amitabh would be present, he carefully planned his Press meet taking every minute detail into consideration. He planned to have it on Abhishek and Ash’s first wedding anniversary to get that added mileage. Nothing would go awry this time he thought. He had arranged for Abhishek and Ash to talk to the Press via satellite about his film from Miami. He had a meeting with Amitabh about this press conference. All was set.
Said a confidante, “Ramu is very proud about his film and planned to showcase it to the public in a lavish manner. He briefed his PRs that the Press should concentrate on asking questions about the film and not only about Abhi-Ash. The PRs informed the Press accordingly.
“April 20 arrived with Amitabh, Jaya, Amar Singh, Vrinda and Krishna Rai in attendance amongst others. This was to be the unveiling of the first look of Sarkar Raj. Ramu was a very proud man as he stood on stage. He had everyone’s attention when the event began but it did not progress the way he had planned it. He thought that having the entire Bachchan family at one place to talk about his film would be a unique opportunity. But, it did not work out the way it was planned. In fact, it turned out to be a Bachchan circus. Everyone got carried away with the anniversary celebrations and Ramu’s Sarkar Raj got sidelined.
During the video conferencing, Aishwarya as usual was mouthing her by-heart lines about how her life is great after getting married with those repeated words, “An incredible man and a very good family.”
When asked about the movie she replied diplomatically, “I always never reveal much about the movie and it‘s up to the audiences to go and watch the film to discover it. I am playing a business woman.” Ramu expected Ms. Bachchan to promote his film to the public. He was aghast. Though, Amitabh said a few lines about the movie, the Press only wanted to focus on the loving couple. They were hungry for quotes as Ash and Abhi are hardly ever available to the media. Continued Ash, “Everyone wants to know how marriage has changed my life. Nothing has changed at all. Life has been one smooth flow.
“And though I didn’t plan such a marriage, I wouldn’t want it any other way. It has been wonderful on both the personal and professional fronts,” she added. “Marriage is such a unique and beautiful experience in my life. I’ve found a wonderful new family. My maiden family and this family together provide me with more than enough happiness and security. What more could I ask for?”
So engrossed were the family about this anniversary celebration that they totally forgot the reason why they were invited to the event by Ram Gopal Verma. With Amitabh joking around with his kids, with all the good wishes flying around and Jaya shedding emotional tears, everyone forgot about Sarkar Raj.
Luckily Ramu was able to inform the media that Sarkar Raj is all set to release on June 6. He said, “The film is not a continuation of the first part. Sarkar Raj is a far more complex and lavish film with no reference points. It‘s an original script. It will be premiered at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) to be held in Bangkok before it releases on a commercial basis in India.”‘
