Madhuri busy with ‘The Unforgettables’ tour

Meghna Gulzar has planned a unique project for Madhuri Dixit. The film, tentatively and aptly titled ’36-24-36’ will be a unique Bollywood comedy about acquiring the perfect feminine figure, obesity and weight loss.

When Meghna narrated the script to Madhuri she was very interested and laughed a lot at the funny sequences. The problem lies in the fact that for Madhuri, her family, her kids and her husband, are first priority and she can’t leave them in the US and come to Mumbai to shoot a film. So, we have it that the production house Pritish Nandy Communications, is prepared to shoot the entire film in the US and that too at the time suited to Madhuri.

However Madhuri, who is now busy with ‘The Unforgettables’ tour in the US, will be able to give her final nod only after the tour.

Randeep Hooda’s to play revolutionary painter in ‘Rang Rasiya’

Randeep Hooda is acting in a role of revolutionary painter from 18th century, Raja Ravi Verma, who brought about the controversy in that era by painting nude women in the movie naming ‘Rang Rasiya.’ Nandana Sen is playing the role of sumptuous woman ‘Sugunabai’ who became a subject for nude painting painted by Raja Ravi Verma that later on fall in love with him. For this role Nandana Sen had to gain extra five Kilograms as she had to look muscular instead of lean and thin. Watch her in some snaps from the movie.

Indian cinema draws curtain on poster art

MUMBAI (AFP) - Balkrishna can paint orange and blue hues on and around a young, gun-toting Amitabh Bachchan -- now Bollywood's biggest superstar -- with his eyes closed.

The 74-year-old artist has produced the poster for Sholay -- one of Bollywood's most famous cult flicks about two reformed criminals who save a village from evil bandits -- thousands of times.

Before TV ads and movie previews, fans of Indian cinema guessed plots by looking at these towering billboards and their colorful action montages.

"This movie is called Sholay ("Fire") so the poster should have red. It should show drama," he said, while rapidly rosing Bachchan's cheeks.

"A hero should look like a hero, a villain like a villain. We make green faces for villains so people would know by the expression and the eyes who the characters of the film are," he said.

But that is an era now gone. As India's culture has rapidly embraced Western tastes, so has its film industry.

Today's posters mimic Hollywood's: The emphasis is on photos, and sexy heroes and sultry heroines dominate -- not attempts to explain the plot.

Shilpa Shetty's maiden Bollywood production titled 'V.I.P'

Shilpa Shetty's maiden Bollywood production has been titled V.I.P., a close friend of the 'Big Brother' winner revealed to us.

Shilpa had recently launched her own production house called, S2 Global Productions and had signed Manish Jha ( Anwar (2007)) to direct her banner's first film.

"Shilpa is playing one of the leads while another heroine and two more heroes are being presently finalized," our source tells us.

"It is going to be an action comedy with five principled characters. The final draft of the script is being worked upon as Shilpa wasn't too convinced by the script that was offered to her by Manish few weeks back. She immediately ordered a rework on the same. She has in fact also scrapped three other scripts which were offered to her for her future films. She wants her scripts to be very strong."

Shilpa presently has only one film on hand, The Man, a romantic thriller being directed by Sunny Deol, who also plays lead.

In addition, she is busy practicing for the Bachchans' Unforgettable world tour, which she will be a part of for two special shows in London.

Shilpa makes a cameo appearance in Dharma Productions' Dostana directed by Tarun Mansukhani and top lining Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham.

Aishwarya to write a book on Pa?

While Amitabh Bachchan might say that he isn’t worthy of an autobiography, close family associates of the Bachchan parivaar suggest that Aishwarya is toying with the idea of writing a book on her Pa. A source close to the family told us about Ash’splans.“Aishwarya holds Bachchan sir in high esteem. She is completely floored by the way he talks, behaves, conducts himself. In fact she has been integral part of Bachchan sir’s blogs as well. She keeps track of them and gives her feed back on a regular basis
